Property valuation notices were mailed out by the Harvey County Appraiser's Office on March 1.
On average, properties increased 11.2% in value.
Residential properties had a 12.1% average valuation increase. Commercial property went up 17.7%. Agricultural land saw a 7.9% decrease in value.
Several factors can impact a property's valuation, such as renovations, improvement projects, age and condition.
Home sale prices are also a key metric, and Harvey County continues to see a strong housing market. There were 680 residential sales in 2023, with an average price of $209,036. Comparatively, in 2022, there were 417 sales at an average cost of $172,151.
Property owners have the opportunity and right to appeal their property valuation. The process begins with an informal meeting with the Appraiser's Office to review information detailing the property's current valuation, and provides the property owner the opportunity to explain why that value may be inaccurate.
